Knight armies can beat archer armies (absent walls or really powerful upgrades like engineering) but cannot beat Pikeman armies. Horse/legion armies can conquer a city defendant by warriors or single archers, but not archer armies. The only way to take a heavily defended city is to have superior units. If you want an easier domination victory, select the Aztecs or Arabs, tech horseback riding and horserush the other civs.Īx, even if you are going for Domination, remember that you have to get ahead in Tech. That's not going to come easy, but once you learn how to do it, the games will become so much easier and you'll never lose to Deity. More cities= more power.Įventually, the goal we like to set out for players is to learn how to have 10 cities by 0AD, or 40 turns. Learn how to do this well, and you'll play this game to its highest level. Once you get to Code of Laws, you should try to create a lot more settlers. You should first target getting your 100 gold, and then start build settlers after that. You should look to build more settlers too. You should be selecting what tiles you want to work on in every city. You need to learn how to custom manange your workers in a your cities. When you get Iron Working, those elite warriors will change into elite legions, when you get Feudalism, those elite legions will change into elite knights, and when you get Combustion, those elite knights will change into elite tanks.įor Warlord difficulty, you get +50% attack as well, so this will make things easier, you could finish the game off with legions if you wanted, or horsemen.īut, you should probably focus on playing the game a little better. So, make a bunch of warriors in a city with barracks, and then start teching up. German warriors start out vetern, so a barracks will make them elite units. ![]() How you do this is to build a barracks in a city and start producing warriors. There's many ways to do it, with their most powerful way being upgrading their elite units into advanced units. The Germans are pretty good for a domination victory. ![]() I recommend looking at the strategy articles on this forum, there are plenty of good ones that should show you how to set up your civ for any type of victory.

![]() Unfortunately, SSB manufacturers are not required to publish a beverage quality report while perceptions of water safety based on difficult to read CCRs could represent a barrier to promoting water as an alternative to SSB. ‘Drink water instead of sugary drinks’ is one of the seven key selected messages for consumers in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans ( US Department of Agriculture & US Department of Health and Human Services 2010). Yet, on a given day, half of the US population over the age of 2 years consumes sugar-sweetened beverages (SSB), which represents a significant source of daily calories ( Ogden et al. Tap water in the USA is readily available, regulated and monitored for safety, calorie-free, and low cost. Suggestions for reorienting language and scientific information in CCRs to be easily comprehensible to the public are offered. These findings expose a wide chasm that exists between current water quality reports and their effectiveness toward being understandable to US residents. The CCR readability ease was found to be equivalent to that of the Harvard Law Review journal. The analysis revealed that CCRs were written at the 11th–14th grade level, which is well above the recommended 6th–7th grade level for public health communications. Readability (or ‘comprehension difficulty’) was evaluated using Flesch–Kincaid readability tests. This study evaluated the readability of a nationally representative sample of 30 CCRs, released between 20. ![]() These reports have excellent potential for providing the public with accurate information on the safety of tap water, but there is a lack of research on the degree to which the information can be understood by a large proportion of the population. These reports encapsulate information regarding sources of water, detected contaminants, regulatory compliance, and educational material. The United States Environmental Protection Agency mandates that community water systems (or water utilities) provide annual consumer confidence reports (CCRs) – water quality reports – to their consumers. Gas chromatographic analysis reveals that the most abundant volatile component of thyme leaves is thymol 8.55 mg/g. It can be pruned after flowering to keep from getting woody. It grows well on dry slopes and is propagated by cuttings. The plant can take deep freezes and is found growing wild on mountain highlands. It can be propagated by seed, cuttings, or dividing rooted sections of the plant. It is generally planted in the spring, and thereafter grows as a perennial. Thyme is best cultivated in a hot, sunny location with well-drained soil. thymallus, described in the 1758 edition of Systema Naturae by Swedish zoologist Carl Linnaeus), originates from the faint smell of thyme that emanates from the flesh. The name of the genus of fish Thymallus, first given to the grayling ( T. Thyme was also used as incense and placed on coffins during funerals, as it was supposed to assure passage into the next life. In this period, women also often gave knights and warriors gifts that included thyme leaves, as it was believed to bring courage to the bearer. In the European Middle Ages, the herb was placed beneath pillows to aid sleep and ward off nightmares. The spread of thyme throughout Europe was thought to be due to the Romans, as they used it to purify their rooms and to "give an aromatic flavour to cheese and liqueurs". The ancient Greeks used it in their baths and burnt it as incense in their temples, believing it was a source of courage. Ancient Egyptians used thyme for embalming. Wild thyme grows in the Levant, where it might have been first cultivated. Thyme is indigenous to the Mediterranean region. Thymes have culinary, medicinal, and ornamental uses, and the species most commonly cultivated and used for culinary purposes is Thymus vulgaris. Thymes are relatives of the oregano genus Origanum, with both plants being mostly indigenous to the Mediterranean region. Apply an all-purpose fungicide to the entire plant, following the label instructions carefully.Thyme ( / t aɪ m/) is the herb (dried aerial parts) of some members of the genus Thymus of aromatic perennial evergreen herbs in the mint family Lamiaceae. Copper penetrates the leaf surface and prevents germination of spores so the fungus cannot spread. Reapply as directed on the product label. Spray a copper-based fungicidal soap on the leaves, coating the top and bottom leaf surfaces. Repeat every two weeks until existing spots stop enlarging and new spots no longer appear. Using a spray bottle, spray on tops and bottoms of leaves until the mixture drips off. Dissolve ½ teaspoon of baking soda and one teaspoon of liquid soap in a gallon of water. Organic options won’t kill the fungus, but will prevent it from spreading. It is recommended to start by applying organic treatment options, working up to the more potent synthetic, chemical fungicides if necessary. ![]() However, if much of the foliage is affected and defoliation occurs, the plant will benefit from getting rid of the infection. Middle Park, State Bridge, and unit 44 historically offer better odds for trophy hunters. Sidener told me that GMUs 18, 28, and 181 might be the best there. There are a few different areas in Colorado that are known for producing large, trophy deer. Where is the best deer hunting in Colorado? If you’re looking to do an either-sex hunt, your best bet is to head out during one of the three rifle seasons. With all this information in mind, let’s take a look at which units you can actually hunt OTC in Colorado. Each of these seasons has its own specific rules and regulations that you need to be aware of before heading out into the field.įinally, hunters with OTC Either-sex Archery tags can only hunt in 137 of Colorado’s 184 elk units (Game Management Units – GMUs). ![]() Second, there are three different types of rifle seasons in Colorado: the 2nd Rifle Season, the 3rd Rifle Season, and the Plains Rifle Season. Again, this would potentially provide further post-production control over the depth perspective, so I could see the appeal.Just as Bugs Bunny slouched in the face of Elmer Fudd's gun, Marc-André Hamelin stares down the Liszt/Paganini Etudes' fingerbusting demands and dispatches them with nonchalant proficiency at every hurdle. None of the pictures show enough detail to identify the mics exactly, but they do look like they’re from the same manufacturer, so I wonder whether they’re some implementation of the Straus Paket (named after recording engineer Volker Straus), whereby you mix the signals of coincident cardioid and omni capsules to generate a variable sub-cardioid response. Here, the ambience manages to maintain impressive warmth and width, but with every staccato clear as a bell and the sporadic action of the sustain pedal thrown into dramatic relief.Īnother intriguing aspect of the recording setup is that the left and right ‘close mics’ are each actually two separate mics taped together in a vertically aligned bundle. Where the recording method pays off most handsomely for me, though, is during Variation 6, where the music’s sheer machine-gun speed and chordal density usually renders it a bit of a mush in most real-world concert situations, to be honest, no matter how clear the player’s articulation. The transition between Variations 4 and 5 is also interesting, given that they’re both at a similar dynamic level, because it feels to me as if Trifonov can’t be solely responsible for the softer tone and additional sustain of the latter. To my ears, Variations 1 and 4 feel appreciably more present and detailed, for instance, with less room ambience, better to allow their delicate rhythmic intricacies to shine through, whereas the sound becomes more open and resonant for the grandiose chordal sweeps of the closing Variation 11. ![]() ![]() (There’s also a large-diaphragm mic hovering around the tail of the instrument, presumably for an alternative tonal perspective.) If you use your DAW to skip around the timeline of, say, the final A-minor étude, I think you can hear the mix engineer rebalancing those mics in response to the contrasting demands of the Theme and its 11 Variations. This isn’t just an arse-saving measure, though, because it allows you to adapt the degree of close detail and reverberant expansiveness to suit changes in the music, which is something I think really pays dividends in this production.Īs it happens, the CD’s booklet and trailer video both clearly show the multi-mic system they used, comprising three small-diaphragm pairs that I’d eyeball as being roughly 2m, 5m, and 10m from the hammers respectively. There’s a QWERTY-keyboard cleaning job I never want to have to do again…) One of the crucial issues for any classical recording is the balance between the direct and reverberant sound, something that’s enormously ticklish to manage with just one pair of mics, so most recordists therefore opt to use multiple mic pairs at different distances to afford some mixdown control over the depth perspective. (I was, rather unwisely in retrospect, drinking a glass of milk while listening to his astonishing rendition of ‘Gnomenriegen’. Daniil Trifonov’s tremendous recording of Liszt’s complete concert études was a worthy winner of this year’s Best Classical Instrumental Solo Grammy. Oftentimes, RV parks are just off the interstate making them loud locations to stay at. A campground can often be loud and intrusive and not very visually appealing. This is in contrast to a campground that might be overcrowded and doesn’t make for a pleasant experience at times. It’s very welcoming to pull up to a vineyard and see nothing but grapevines across the land as you stay peacefully at night in your camper.Īt times, you might be the only one on the property or there may be a minimal amount of other campers staying along with you but never crowding you. Many of these locations are located in a setting that is idyllic and almost dreamy for the person staying in an RV. This is a good way for you to support small, local businesses and also to enjoy the beauty of the location. In case you aren’t aware, Harvest Hosts is a service that is made up of over 994 (currently) wineries, breweries, distilleries, farms, museums and golf courses that allow RVers to park their camper on their property free for a night.Īlthough it is free, it is generally expected that you will purchase something from the local business in exchange for their hospitality.
